Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Job Summary The purpose of the Production Supervisor is to supervise processes and procedures within the production department, including steel shop fabrication, production, and scheduling. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining records of materials, ensuring safety, quality, and production policies are followed, maximizing profits through efficient operations, and ensuring projects are completed on time. The role also involves overall personnel supervision, training, and development of employees. Experience & Qualifications 2 to 4 years in structural steel shop fabrication Detail-oriented, highly organized, self-directed, and able to interact and communicate with all levels within the organization Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate teams Strong problem solving and troubleshooting experience Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Good leadership skills and able to work in a team environment Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to translate policies into daily routine operations ERP/MRP experience: Global Shop preferred Successfully pass a background check, including criminal history, drug screen, physical, audiogram, and vision test Educational Requirements College degree highly preferred Must have a high school diploma, GED, or 2 to 4 years of equivalent experience in the field and related work area Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Understanding of Lean concepts Responsibilities Oversee all operations within the production department Ensure products meet company standards, policies, and practices Collaborate with the Production and Plant Manager to meet manufacturing objectives Supervise all staff working within the Production department Approve weekly time management and submit to management via ERP system Interview candidates for departmental positions Address employee relations issues, such as work complaints or other concerns Create and administer written warnings, and submit to management Assist with employee evaluations Create a continuous improvement environment and promote teamwork and execution of the right actions the first time Interact with employees and assist customers with their concerns, questions, or complaints Recommend new equipment, methods, and facilities to the Management Team Meet production objectives by forecasting job requirements and potential barriers Establish priorities, control processes, and resolve issues to maintain efficiency Plan the use of personnel, production machinery, and other resources effectively Ensure compliance with corporate regulations pertaining to Human Resources and Safety Tune production processes and procedures for improvement The above statements are intended to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Specialized Knowledge And Skills Individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position. Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: AWS structural and seismic codes, ACSE, and AISC standards and codes; production/material specifications related to the fabrication and erection of structural steel.
