Assembler

The Assembler sets up, builds, and tests electrical and mechanical assemblies by following detailed instructions, blueprints, and parts lists. This role involves preparing materials, wiring and assembling components, operating hand and power tools, and performing quality checks to ensure accurate and reliable finished products in a warehouse production environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work by reviewing assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, and by gathering required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
• Position parts and subassemblies accurately by using templates and reading measurements.
• Tighten and fasten prefabricated electrical or electronic parts and install components, units, subassemblies, raceways, wiring, and assembly casings using rivets, bolts, screws, clamps, and similar hardware.
• Prepare wire by identifying and separating wire by color, trimming, clipping, and tinning wires and leads, wiring according to predetermined specifications, and connecting wire to pre-connected wiring devices.
• Package prepared wire for kits according to order requirements.
• Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and securely fastening parts and subassemblies.
• Drill and tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or to provide openings for elements, wiring, or instruments.
• Measure, cut, and glue PVC pipe according to specifications.
• Use a square bit power drill to construct tables used for storage.
• Pack wires onto carts to be palletized, and palletize different length wires into bags, then sign and initial quality control sheets to confirm orders are fulfilled correctly.
• Spool wires to specified lengths using a custom-built machine, apply labels, cut, and zip tie both ends of the wire.
• Store spooled wires on carts and move them to designated areas within the department while tracking the number of wires spooled each hour.
• Use electronic testing devices to verify the electric current of wires and confirm proper functionality.
• Apply specific color tape to wires according to instructions or specifications.
• Use a polypropylene strapping kit, including tensioner, crimper, metal strapping seals, and cart, to secure bags to pallets for shipment.
• Use sandpaper on thicker wire lengths (approximately 100–200 feet), clean residue with alcohol, and use a heat gun and custom measuring tool to glue rings onto wire.
• Follow all safety measures, including unplugging the heat gun after use and storing it properly in the custom-built holster under the worktable.
• Participate in cross-training as needed to support various tasks within the department.

• Hands-on assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and follow assembly instructions and blueprint specifications.
• Mechanical assembly skills, including accurate positioning and fastening of parts and subassemblies.
• Proficiency using hand tools such as crimpers, cutters, and basic mechanical tools.
• Proficiency using power tools, including drills and related equipment.
• Experience with wiring tasks, including identifying and separating wires by color, trimming, clipping, and tinning wires and leads.
• Ability to wire according to predetermined specifications and connect wires to wiring devices.
• Experience with splicing and crimping wires.
• Ability to drill and tap holes accurately in specified locations.
• Ability to measure, cut, and glue materials such as PVC pipe with precision.
• Basic understanding of electrical continuity testing using electronic devices.
• Ability to follow safety procedures consistently when using tools and equipment.

• Experience working from blueprints and parts lists.
• Familiarity with palletizing and packaging materials for shipment.
• Experience using polypropylene strapping kits, tensioners, crimpers, and metal strapping seals.
• Comfort working with custom-built machines and tools for wire spooling and measuring.
• Attention to detail in labeling, quality control documentation, and order fulfillment.
• Ability to track productivity, such as the number of wires spooled per hour.
• Willingness to cross-train and support multiple tasks within the department.

You will join a hands-on production environment where practical skills are valued and developed through cross-training and exposure to a variety of tasks. The role offers the opportunity to work with specialized tools and custom-built equipment, build technical assembly and wiring experience, and contribute directly to the quality and reliability of finished products. Work Environment

This role is based in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse environment, where conditions can vary with the seasons. You will typically work 8–10 hour days, supporting production schedules and department needs. The work involves standing, moving materials, and working at assembly tables with hand tools, power drills, electronic testing devices, custom wire-spooling machines, polypropylene strapping kits, and other production equipment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and must be worn as directed to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
