Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Infusion RN for an outpatient cancer institute, requiring 2 years of specialty experience and current chemotherapy certification.

Details

• Outpatient oncology infusion clinic setting at a cancer institute
• Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• No weekend requirements
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including to affiliate hospitals nearby
• Open to accommodating block scheduling
• Treats all oncology diagnoses, GI/GU diagnoses requiring infusion, OB fluids/nausea/vomiting regimens, research protocols, migraine protocols, and antibiotic therapies
• Performs BCG treatments, cystoscopies, and intrathecal chemotherapy administration
• Uses Epic (Excellian) for charting

Requirements

• Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Current BLS certification required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• Minimum 2 years of oncology infusion nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic/Excellian charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, infusion administration, and port access/management
• Experience administering chemotherapy via multiple routes (IV push, continuous infusion, oral)
• Ability to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies and chemotherapy side effects
• 1 supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, central line/PICC line care, and blood/blood product administration
• Manage oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, sepsis, and tumor lysis syndrome
• Support patients across a wide range of cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, lymphoma, leukemia, and multiple myeloma
• Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered, as locals are not accepted for this role
• Returning staff must have been separated from perm staff or per diem roles for at least 3 months prior to starting
• RTO requests ideally limited to no more than 5 days during the assignment
• Fingerprinting is required as a Minnesota state background check requirement with no exceptions
