Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales Leadership Drive sales, service, and customer experience initiatives in store to achieve sales, KPIs and other store performance goals. Ensure the team completes assignments, teaches/trains staff to deliver the customer experience, articulates and communicates the vision, values, and priorities, and provides financial reporting and operational metrics standard for the location. Monitor customer service and selling models, resolve complaints, maintain professionalism, and conduct all communication appropriately. Customer Excellence Build relationships and drive ongoing customer satisfaction, review customer ratings and act as needed. Focus on the customer experience, brand, and loyalty awareness by building relationships throughout the community. Protect employees and customers by maintaining a safe and clean store environment. Ensure cleanliness and well‑being of all livestock, animal care, and feeding. Operations and Talent Development Maintain brand standards and operational excellence. Manage controllable expenses and loss prevention standards to support store profitability. Manage inventory – place orders within budget, maintain accuracy, and meet shrink goals. Control labor hours to meet customer needs and complete all required operational compliances. Implement tools, processes, and company directives. Execute training plans, new‑hire checklists, sales techniques, and merchandising standards. Coach performance, write and deliver appraisals and OFIs, maintain a talent pipeline, and coordinate hiring, including pre‑screening, interviewing, and hiring. Business Insight Control and maximize DSOP through POS discounts, store usage of supplies, employee discounts, and damaged inventory. Review, analyze, and interpret profit and loss statements to identify opportunities to improve bottom line profit. Plan and execute community events and partnerships with rescue agencies. Experience, Education, Certifications Minimum 3–5 years in a retail manager role or a minimum of 1 year as a Store Manager. Enjoy working with and around animals. College degree an asset. Job Requirements Work a flexible schedule, including morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Work a rotating schedule: 2 closing shifts per week; 1 full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) every period; 1 full weekend off every period if coverage permits. Must work a minimum of 45 hours per week, hold a valid driver’s license, and have access to a motor vehicle. Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Effort of Position Heavy lifting up to 55 lbs required several times during a shift. Stand, move around, and spend most time on the selling floor. Active listening and observation required during customer interactions and merchandising. Work in a relatively temperature‑stable environment with occasional solo work. Accidental injuries from pets possible. Common injuries: slips, trips, falls, strains, and sprains from lifting.
