Additional Information About the Role
Our organization is on the lookout for a seasoned Cardiologist Medical Director to spearhead and shape a burgeoning cardiology program at Memorial Hospital Belleville, situated in the St. Louis metropolitan area. This leadership role is available for both Interventional and Non-Invasive Cardiologists who are enthusiastic about program enhancement, clinical excellence, and collaborative leadership.
- Open to both Interventional and General Cardiologists
- Chance to lead and expand a developing cardiology program
- Dedicated Medical Director time (4 hours/week) plus stipend
- Combination of leadership, procedural (if applicable), and clinical practice
- Robust support from Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and hospitalists
- Expanding structural heart program
- Supported by a well-established, physician-led healthcare system
- Provide clinical leadership and strategic guidance for cardiology services
- Collaborate with hospital administration, physicians, and care teams to enhance quality and performance
- Lead initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and broadening access to cardiology services
Join a well-established, collaborative team consisting of:
- 8 Cardiologists and 3 APPs
- A dedicated Medical Assistant for each physician
- APPs assisting with clinic and inpatient rounding
- A cardiology hospitalist managing inpatient care
Flexible structure based on subspecialty:
- For Interventional Cardiologists:
- 2-3 days in the Cath Lab
- 1-2 days in the Clinic
- Dedicated cath lab time with a strong procedural volume
- For General (Non-Invasive) Cardiologists:
- Primarily clinic-based with inpatient consultative support as needed
- Opportunity to focus on diagnostics, imaging, and longitudinal care
- Clinic located on the hospital campus near the cath lab
- Strong collaboration with cardiac and vascular teams

Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose
The physician will deliver professional medical services within their specialty to the best of their ability through direct patient care and will allocate additional time as necessary for related duties such as completing medical records, providing consultations, managing in-basket tasks, conducting patient-specific education, and collaborating with advanced practice providers and care team members.
- Manage the medical care of a patient panel by providing or arranging for inpatient hospital care, either through regular hospital rounds or by coordinating with hospitalists or other qualified physicians.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and care team members to ensure excellent patient care outcomes at designated clinic locations.
- Perform and document medical histories and physicals in patients' medical records as required by hospital bylaws.
- Provide or arrange for call coverage for clinic patients and inpatient care in accordance with medical staff bylaws and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with and mentor advanced practice providers and support staff involved in patient care.
- This position is classified as safety-sensitive; maintaining a constant state of alertness and working safely is essential.
- Education: Doctorate in Medicine
- Experience: No supervisory experience required
- Licenses & Certifications: Board Eligible or Board Certified Licensed Physician
- Experience: 2-5 years
