Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit serving patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• Perform continuous EKG interpretation and monitor telemetry using Philips monitoring systems; collaborate with on-unit monitor technicians
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
• Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as applicable
• Float to other general medical units as needed
• Maintain active Illinois RN licensure and adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated at time of submission)
• BLS certification (required)
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration
• Demonstrated competency in all basic nursing skills
• Ability to pass a drug screen for all panels; facility is a drug-free campus
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (recommended)
• Prior experience in a telemetry, cardiac, or cardio thoracic nursing setting
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient populations
• Previous experience at this health system (may reduce orientation requirements)
