Physical Therapy Assistant

Role Overview: The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high-quality, person-centered care to elderly participants in a community-based program. Key Responsibilities Implement and modify treatment plans within scope of practice. Assist participants with exercises, mobility, and therapeutic interventions. Educate participants and families on safety, injury prevention, and post-treatment care. Monitor and document patient progress, outcomes, and changes in condition. Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe environment. Support participant transfers and contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings. Supervise students or interns as needed and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Adhere to safety protocols, legal standards, and ethical practices. Qualifications & Skills Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited PTA program. Current or eligible state license. Experience with elderly or frail populations preferred. Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and staff, including challenging situations. Familiarity with therapy equipment and electronic health records. Additional Requirements Reliable transportation, up-to-date immunizations, and passing a criminal background check are mandatory.
