Shipper And Receiver This role supports the shipping and receiving department on the manufacturing floor, ensuring that materials and finished products are accurately handled, documented, and moved to the correct locations. You follow written work instructions, loading schedules, and production tickets, and collaborate closely with coworkers and leadership in a fast-paced, make-to-order environment. Responsibilities Follow detailed work instructions, loading schedules, and production tickets to ensure accurate shipping and receiving activities. Receive incoming raw materials and products, verify quantities and documentation, and stage items in the appropriate areas. Prepare outgoing shipments, including picking, packaging, labeling, and loading products according to customer and production requirements. Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely to move, load, and unload heavy products and raw materials. Use RF scanners to pick orders, track inventory movements, and maintain accurate records of materials and finished goods. Handle heavy products and raw materials, lifting up to 120 pounds multiple times per hour, using team lifts for heavy loads as required. Maintain a work pace that supports the integrity of a make-to-order manufacturing system and meets customer demand. Communicate clearly and respectfully with coworkers and management, following verbal instructions and providing updates on work status. Work effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced team environment focused on Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement. Follow all safety procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment and adhering to guidelines for working around noise, hot materials, and limited chemicals. Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area within the warehouse and manufacturing floor. Support inventory control activities by accurately handling, counting, and recording materials as needed. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience in shipping and receiving. At least 5 years of forklift operating experience. At least 3 years of packaging experience. Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment. Ability to comprehend and follow written work instructions, loading schedules, and production tickets. Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions from supervisors and coworkers. Strong communication skills to interact clearly and respectfully with team members and management. Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per day, with flexibility to work longer hours in overtime situations. Ability to lift heavy products or raw materials up to 120 pounds multiple times per hour, using team lifts for heavy loads. Comfort working in a fast-paced, ever-changing team environment. Experience in material handling, including loading, unloading, and packaging. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices. Ability to work on a 2nd shift schedule and maintain reliable attendance. Attention to detail in verifying shipments, documentation, and inventory. Work Environment The role is based in a very clean warehouse environment connected to a fast-paced manufacturing plant that operates under Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles. You work on 1st or 2nd shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 4:00 PM to 12:00AM, completing a full 8-hour shift with a 30-minute lunch. The work requires standing and walking for extended periods and frequent lifting of heavy materials, with team lifts used for heavier loads. The environment includes exposure to high noise levels, hot raw materials, fire-retardant materials, and limited chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment is required for any hazards and is provided. The work area is kept clean and safe, supporting efficient material flow and comfortable movement throughout the warehouse and manufacturing floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
