About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – ICU Float

Location

Colorado Springs, CO (Zone covers up to 60-mile radius, including Pueblo, CO and Canon City, CO)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Float Role

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across combination ICU settings (MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU, etc.) within an assigned zone, floating to facilities as needed
• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1–2 based on acuity, with potential flex to 1:3; maintain 1:1 ratios for high-acuity patients including those on CRRT, IABP, and Impella
• Titrate critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin, and others
• Independently read and interpret telemetry strips; assist with troubleshooting and managing respiratory equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Adapt to scheduling formats including single-facility weekly assignments or just-in-time (JIT) facility assignments communicated 1–2 hours before shift start
• Fulfill weekend requirements (6–9 shifts per 6-week schedule) and participate in holiday rotation as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (or eligibility) in the state of Colorado
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency in titrating all critical care drips
• Ability and willingness to float throughout the full 60-mile zone radius; housing must be obtained to make zone-wide floating feasible
• Must be available and present in-state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are conducted remotely

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers must have a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience and Epic EMR proficiency
• Experience floating across varying acuity levels including PCU/Stepdown and Med-Surg Telemetry
• Familiarity with high-acuity equipment such as CRRT, IABP, and Impella
