Echodyne Kirkland, Washington, United States Position Title: Instructional Designer Radar Reinvented. Echodyne offers the worlds first compact solid-state true beam-steering radar for a wide range of industries and applications. Our high-performance radars work in all weather and are designed for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft & drones, and security of borders, critical infrastructure, and smart cities. The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM). Echodyne is seeking a Instructional Designer to join our fast-growing team. RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct audience, needs, task, and performance analyses for radar hardware and software training. Observe field deployments or customer training to understand the Solutions Engineer workflow firsthand. Develop role-based curricula and learning paths for customers, including onboarding, product releases, and continuing education. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accurate, and approachable instruction. Create asynchronous courses, interactive modules, product simulations, scenario-based exercises, assessments, labs, job aids, and field-reference materials. Design training that connects software workflows with hands-on hardware activities, including installation, configuration, calibration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Write measurable learning objectives and align content, practice activities, and assessments with those objectives. Partner with engineers, product managers, Solutions Engineers, support teams, technical writers, and other subject‑matter experts to gather and validate content. Collaborate with the video content developer on scripts, storyboards, demonstrations, animations, and other instructional media. Establish templates, standards, and repeatable development processes for the training program. Manage course content through review, publication, version control, and product‑lifecycle updates. Evaluate learning effectiveness using learner feedback, assessment results, field‑readiness indicators, and stakeholder input. Recommend improvements based on performance data, product changes, customer needs, and lessons learned in the field. Manage multiple projects and release‑driven deadlines while maintaining technical accuracy and instructional quality. REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in instructional design, learning sciences, educational technology, engineering education, technical communication, or a related fieldor equivalent practical experience. Three or more years of experience designing professional or technical training. Demonstrated experience developing asynchronous e‑learning and performance‑support materials. Working knowledge of adult‑learning principles and instructional design approaches such as ADDIE, SAM, backward design, and Blooms Taxonomy. Proficiency with an e‑learning authoring platform such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, or an equivalent tool. Experience creating meaningful assessments, hands‑on exercises, and scenario‑based learning. Experience working with engineers or other technical subject‑matter experts. Ability to understand unfamiliar technical systems and explain them accurately to different audiences. Strong project‑management skills and the ability to work independently in a product‑driven environment. DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (Looking for one or more as a complement to the core skills) Experience developing training for integrated hardware and software products. Background in radar, RF systems, sensors, electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, defense, robotics, industrial equipment, or another complex technical field. Familiarity with networking, system integration, data visualization, command‑line tools, APIs, or cloud‑connected applications. Experience designing hardware labs, software simulations, troubleshooting scenarios, or technical certification programs. Experience with video-production or visual‑design tools such as Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, or similar platforms. Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive learning design. Experience supporting field engineers, Solutions Engineers, customer enablement, or technical support organizations. A degree or professional certification in instructional design, learning and development, or a related discipline.
