Opportunity Overview

Our organization is in search of a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Critical Care Physician who possesses a strong interest or expertise in ECMO and advanced circulatory support. This role is integral to our growing Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) program.

This position presents a remarkable chance to engage in top-tier cardiovascular critical care within a well-established, multidisciplinary program that includes advanced heart failure management, mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, intricate cardiac surgeries, and heart transplantation.

As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing development and innovation of one of Northern California's leading cardiovascular critical care programs.

Clinical Practice Environment

This high-acuity, quaternary referral practice is structured to promote both clinical excellence and physician well-being.

Our physicians collaborate in a team-oriented model and are expected to:

• Provide expert cardiovascular and surgical critical care.

• Oversee complex ECMO and mechanical circulatory support patients.

• Engage in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinated care planning.

• Independently conduct critical care procedures.

• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and program development.

• Facilitate education for physicians, APPs, nursing staff, and ECMO specialists.

• Participate in governance, accreditation, and community outreach efforts.

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.

• Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in California prior to starting.

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in:

  • Critical Care Medicine

  • Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine

  • Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine

  • Emergency Medicine Critical Care

  • Equivalent critical care training pathway

Preferred

• Experience in ECMO, cardiac surgical critical care, or mechanical circulatory support.

• Strong procedural skills in critical care.

• Proven clinical judgment and collaborative practice abilities.

• Interest in leadership, quality improvement, program development, and education.
