Senior Claims Specialist - Litigation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Claims Specialist - Litigation based in United States.

This role serves as a subject matter expert responsible for managing complex, high-exposure liability claims from investigation through resolution. You will handle sophisticated matters involving litigation, coverage issues, catastrophic bodily injury, personal and advertising injury, and employment practices liability. The position requires strong judgment across coverage analysis, damage evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and litigation strategy. You will work closely with panel counsel to develop cost-effective approaches and action plans designed to drive cases toward timely resolution. The role also involves direct engagement with insureds, agents, counsel, and other stakeholders while maintaining high standards of service and compliance. This is an opportunity for an experienced claims professional to take ownership of significant exposures, routinely involving reserves of $500,000 or more.

Accountabilities:

• Manage litigated and other complex, high-exposure liability claims through coverage analysis, investigation, damage evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution.
• Handle claims involving complex coverage issues, catastrophic bodily injuries, personal and advertising injuries, and employment practices liability.
• Develop positive and effective working relationships with panel counsel and collaborate on cost-efficient litigation strategies.
• Work with counsel to develop detailed action plans focused on effective case management and early resolution where appropriate.
• Prepare and present large-loss reports for significant claims.
• Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves based on thorough exposure analysis.
• Negotiate and communicate claim settlements within established authority limits.
• Attend mediations and trials and actively participate in litigation-related proceedings.
• Draft denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters, and other complex claims correspondence.
• Maintain an effective diary system and ensure claim file activities are accurately documented according to established procedures.
• Manage assigned file inventory to support timely and appropriate resolution of claims.
• Ensure claims are handled in accordance with applicable state regulations and established procedures.
• Provide responsive and professional service to insureds, agents, counsel, and internal and external stakeholders.
• Complete required administrative activities, including document preparation, expense reporting, time-off reporting, and other operational tasks.
• Contribute expertise and guidance as a subject matter expert on complex claims matters.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience handling significant litigation claims with exposures of $500,000 or more.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and address complex coverage issues and conduct thorough investigations to determine liability and exposure.
• Proven experience establishing timely and accurate reserves and developing detailed action plans for complex claims.
• Strong knowledge of tort and contract law.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to evaluate and resolve complex claims within appropriate authority limits.
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and collaboration skills.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
• Effective presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex claims information clearly to different audiences.
• Working knowledge of legal billing software, claims management systems, spreadsheet applications, and word-processing software.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate claims documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Adjuster licenses for Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee , or the ability to obtain the required licenses within 90 days of hire.
• BA/BS degree preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Ability to work from the designated office location or, for highly qualified candidates, remotely where permitted by business needs and location.
• Current work authorization in the United States; visa sponsorship is not offered for this role.

Benefits

• Base salary range of $77,000–$144,000 , with actual compensation determined by factors including role scope, complexity, location, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and other employment conditions.
