Details Medical Surgical unit in a 562-bed acute care hospital Average daily census of 22 patients with a 1:5-7 patient ratio 3x12 hour day shift schedule (0645-1915) Works every other weekend No on-call requirements Required to float to other units within scope as needed, including affiliate facilities Uses Cerner charting system Requirements Active Illinois RN license required in hand at time of application BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted) Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Ortho trauma experience and surgical drain experience required Experience with telemetry remote monitoring and Rapid Response/Code teams required IV therapy skills required including blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting IVs Respiratory care skills required including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy management GI care skills required including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management Renal care experience required including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care Neurological experience with spinal cord injuries required Medication administration experience required with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA Isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac experience required Additional Information Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility Provide direct patient care across a broad range of Med/Surg cases including cardiac, respiratory, GI, renal, and neurological conditions Scrubs may be any solid color Parking permit required but provided at no cost, completed during orientation First-time travelers are not accepted for this role Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction Previous permanent or PRN employees of the health system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler RTO requests ideally limited to no more than 5 days Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays Travel pairs are not accepted American Traveler Job ID P-749639.
