POSITION DUTIES

Under managerial supervision from an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), or Director of Nursing (DON), this position plans and coordinates the provision of nursing care for a nursing division for all shifts within Deer's Head Hospital Center. This position directly supervise Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisors or RN Charges and through them indirectly supervise subordinate staff.

Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding Vaccination (MDH # View phone number on us.fitly.work) issued by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, effective April 18, 2025, staff in all hospitals and residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees, contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious reasons.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience : Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years in the Medical option and one year in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession a Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Medical option for the required education and experience.

2. Candidates may substitute six years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include three years in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity in the Medical option for the required education and experience requirements.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:

• Experience managing staff working with an elderly population
• Experience in Conflict Management and Team Building

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
