Heavy Equipment Operator (Dozer Focus) – Up to $30+/hr

Virginia Beach, VA Area

Overview

We are hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Operators with strong dozer skills for immediate openings on civil construction and site development projects in the Virginia Beach / Suffolk area.

What You’ll Do

• Operate heavy equipment with a focus on dozers for fine and rough grading
• Perform site prep , grading, and land leveling according to plans
• Support roadway construction (cut, fill, shaping roadbeds)
• Assist with stormwater systems, pipe installation, and underground utilities
• Install and maintain erosion control systems
• Run additional equipment as needed (excavators, loaders, skid steers, etc.)
• Complete daily equipment checks and report any issues
• Work closely with a small crew to keep projects moving
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Help with general labor tasks when needed

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience operating heavy equipment in construction/earthwork
• Strong dozer experience (fine grade + rough grade)
• Experience with excavators and utility work
• Ability to meet grading tolerances and project specs
• Familiarity with roadwork, stormwater systems, and erosion control
• Safety-focused with consistent PPE use
• Willing to work 40–50 hours per week + some Saturdays
• Comfortable performing physical labor as needed
• Able to access secure/restricted job sites if required

Preferred Experience

• Experience with multiple equipment types (loaders, backhoes, motor graders, skid steers, etc.)
• Experience in civil/site development or earthworks
• Comfortable working in small crews

Work Environment

• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday (40–50 hours/week) + some Saturdays
• Work includes grading, roadway construction, and utility installation
• PPE required at all times; steel-toe boots required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
