To thrive as a School Social Worker at Career Success Schools, you need a robust skill set and an unwavering commitment to student welfare. Proficiency in school-based social work practices and a deep understanding of child and adolescent development are essential for effective Student Advocacy. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and mental health supports will help you to provide crucial Behavioral Support in Schools.

You should be well-versed in IEPs, 504 Plans, and special education processes to address each student's unique needs, while adhering to FERPA guidelines and professional ethics. Strong individual and group counseling skills will enable you to offer effective support, while your abilities in student assessment, case management, and documentation will enhance your contributions to Attendance and Engagement initiatives. You will need crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to handle challenging situations with composure.

Collaboration with educators, families, and service providers is key, requiring clear written and verbal communication skills. You must also build trusting relationships with diverse populations, manage caseloads efficiently, and maintain confidentiality-all within a fast-paced school environment that values fun, teamwork, and integrity.
