Civil Litigation Legal Secretary

Beacon Hill Legal is partnering with a national organization seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Legal Secretary for a fully remote contract opportunity supporting a California-based legal team.
This position will support two attorneys handling primarily property and casualty insurance defense matters. The ideal candidate will have strong civil litigation experience, excellent calendaring and document-management skills, and hands-on experience with California court e-filing.
Position Details
Fully remote (U.S.-based)
Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific
40 hours per week
Contract through December 31, 2026
Pay: $30-$35/hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
Draft and format legal correspondence, pleadings, and other documents
Maintain electronic case files
Calendar court appearances, filing deadlines, and other critical dates
Coordinate depositions, hearings, medical examinations, and retained experts
E-file documents with California courts
Manage attorney calendars and follow-up items
Proactively monitor case activity and deadlines
Required Qualifications
3+ years Legal secretary or comparable legal support experience
Civil litigation experience
California court e-filing experience
Familiarity with California court procedures and local rules
Strong legal calendaring, document preparation, and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
