Janitorial Associate

Join our team as a Janitorial Associate, where you'll help create a clean, safe, and welcoming workplace every day. In this role, you'll take pride in maintaining facility cleanliness, supporting sanitation standards, and ensuring team members have a comfortable environment to work in. This position has a base rate of $17.50 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials and overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Schedule: Monday through Friday Third Shift

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in various areas.
• Sweep, clean and mop the floors in the common areas of the facility and in areas with high foot traffic.
• Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms, including mirrors, fixtures, and partitions.
• Empty trash cans and replace liners in all areas daily.
• Clean breakrooms and office areas, including tables, sinks, and floors.
• Wipe down microwaves, refrigerators and high-touch surfaces.
• Stock and maintain supply rooms.
• Maintain janitorial supplies and ensure proper storage.
• Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects.
• Report to management when major repairs are needed.
• Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Participate in Company and department safety programs.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years in a comparable field.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School or equivalent is beneficial but not required.
• Previous experience in commercial cleaning preferred.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good communication skills to interact with facility managers and staff.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

When in a plant environment:

• Ability to tolerate exposure to wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
• Ability to stand for an extended period and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. by reaching, bending, and pushing.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, bump cap and ear protection as required.
• May work in an environment with varying temperatures between 28 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May handle products varying in temperatures between 25 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
• May be exposed to dust, and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
• Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
