Member Advocate I – Deliver exceptional member service while accurately processing a variety of cash and inquiry transactions, and proactively recommend products and services that meet member needs. Responsibilities Provide extraordinary member service by being knowledgeable, engaging with members, making them feel valued, and consistently applying defined service standards. Accurately process member transactions (cash checks, deposits, withdrawals, and information inquiries). Listen actively to fully understand and answer members’ questions and concerns, offer guidance, and make appropriate referrals to savings, credit, or other products. Ensure policies, procedures, and risk mitigation activities (security, member identification, fraud prevention) are followed and report gaps to leadership. Prepare and verify official checks and money orders. Balance assigned cash drawer during and at the end of each workday. Perform miscellaneous duties such as end‑of‑day activities, filing, answering phones, and maintaining supplies. Operate within acceptable ranges of balancing and quality work parameters while maintaining a high level of member service. Ensure all activities are efficiently conducted, generally error‑free, and comply with policies, procedures, operational and compliance controls. Control losses, errors, and risks by adhering to all applicable policies and procedures; obtain manager approval for exceptions. Work according to schedules and attendance guidelines and may provide coverage at other Member Relationship Centers. Perform other duties as assigned. Specialized & Technical Knowledge and Skills Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Encouraged to earn or hold Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation. Must be able to learn and apply a variety of software applications. Must have accurate keyboarding skills. Prior experience in a retail service environment including cash handling and member service preferred. Regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or reach, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Physical Demands & Work Environment Must see details at a close range and may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Work environment is moderate‑noise; not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
