Sign and Shelter Coordinator

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Supervsior Passenger Facility Maintenance, the Sign & Shelter Coordinator performs and leads the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of bus stop signs, benches, and passenger shelters. This role acts as the field lead and trainer, responsible for directing daily field work activities, ensuring quality workmanship, and enforcing safety and regulatory compliance standards consistent with transit industry practices. Updates work order statuses and records asset installations, removals, inspections, and conditions. Collaborates with internal Pace staff, contractors, municipalities, and roadway permitting authorities.

1. Leading and performing installation, relocation, and removal of bus stop signs, poles, benches, and passenger shelters to ensure installations meet ADA, municipal, and Pace standards.
2. Operating equipment such as cranes, boom trucks, augers, basic hand tools, and lift devices.
3. Coordinating utility locating and site preparation.
4. Serving as lead trainer for field technicians, providing hands-on instruction in installation methods, equipment usage, materials, and safety procedures.
5. Assigning, prioritizing, and monitoring daily work tasks based on work orders and operational needs, ensuring efficient and quality work completion, and accurately documenting work order status from initiation through close.
6. The coordinator updates work order statuses; records asset installations, removals, inspections, and conditions; and collaborates with Pace staff, contractors, municipalities, and permitting authorities
7. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in field maintenance, construction, or public infrastructure. Proven experience leading crews or training field staff.

Certifications Required:

Class C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Crane and forklift certifications

Proficiencies:

Must have the ability to safely operate equipment including cranes, boom trucks, augers, and basic hand tools. Knowledge of installation standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements is required.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required. Must have the ability to coordinate work with internal departments, contractors, municipalities, and permitting authorities.

Must be able to maintain professional composure when confronted with difficult situations and make quick and accurate decisions.

Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records, work orders, and asset tracking systems. OSHA certification is preferred.

Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires sitting for extended periods, typing on a computer, and attending meetings. Must be able to lift objects up to 100 pounds and safely operate heavy equipment as part of daily duties.

Working Conditions:

This role involves frequent outdoor work in traffic and construction environments, where there is regular exposure to noise, heavy equipment, varying weather conditions, and other environmental hazards. In addition, employees must be flexible and available for emergency call-outs, as well as adaptable to schedule changes when operational needs arise. This position is not eligible for a hybrid work schedule or remote work.

Salary

N5 Full Salary Range: $40,983-$84,068

Midpoint: $62,526

Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $51,754-$62,526
