Training Coordinator
Conducts training sessions for temporary election workers, evaluates trainee performance, travels to training or work sites as assigned, and helps ensure staff understand procedures, conduct expectations, and role-specific duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom, hands-on, virtual, or site-based training using County-approved materials, scripts, exercises, and presentations.
- Explain role expectations, election procedures, safety requirements, nonpartisan conduct, confidentiality, and escalation paths clearly.
- Evaluate trainee participation, comprehension, readiness, and performance using County-provided checklists or criteria.
- Document attendance, completion status, performance concerns, questions, feedback, and follow-up needs accurately.
- Assist with training-room setup, materials preparation, equipment checks, sign-in procedures, and post-training cleanup.
- Travel to sites as assigned to support refresher training, corrective coaching, or role-specific instruction.
- Coordinate with recruiters, workforce coordinators, supervisors, and leads to align training capacity with staffing needs.
Attention to detail when recording attendance, completion, and performance information. Comfort answering questions within approved guidance and escalating issues when needed.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Public speaking, facilitation, coaching, and ability to explain procedures to diverse learners.
- Microsoft Word and PowerPoint proficiency; ability to use training documents and presentation materials.
- Team-oriented approach and ability to manage groups professionally and respectfully.
Attention to detail when recording attendance, completion, and performance information. Comfort answering questions within approved guidance and escalating issues when needed.
Minimum Qualifications and Compliance Requirements
- Background check and drug screening required before assignment.
- Ability to drive County-authorized vehicles if assigned and overtime availability based on training schedules.
- Prior training, election work, public speaking, teaching, facilitation, or operations experience preferred.
- Must complete train-the-trainer orientation and role-specific training before leading sessions.
Schedule and Working Conditions
- May require standing, speaking for extended periods, lifting training materials, setting up rooms, and traveling to sites.
- Training schedules may include evenings, weekends, and surge classes before major election milestones.
- Must be available to work through the election cycle with limited requested days off.
Must be available for schedule needs that may include 8-10 hour shifts, weekends, flexible start and end times, overtime, and extended hours on specific event days, especially Election Day. Must remain reliable, punctual, and responsive to assignment changes during a fast-paced, deadline-driven election environment. Must follow County security rules, workplace policies, chain-of-custody expectations, confidentiality requirements, dress code, and professional conduct standards.
Performance Expectations
- Completes assigned work accurately, on time, and in accordance with training and County procedures.
- Maintains nonpartisan conduct, voter confidentiality, ballot security, and respectful service at all times.
- Escalates exceptions, voter issues, equipment concerns, safety concerns, and unclear instructions promptly to the designated supervisor or lead.
- Accurately documents work performed, materials handled, calls received, records updated, and/or batch activity as applicable to the assignment.
