Location: Tavares, FL 32278

Duration: 11 weeks

Shift: Day Shift

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Hours: 9 hours per day / 45 hours per week

Shift Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $24/hour 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Medical Assistant (MA) to support both front-office and back-office clinical operations within a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with patient care, phlebotomy, EMR documentation, EKGs, Point-of-Care (POC) testing, scheduling, and occupational health services.

Key Responsibilities

• Support both front-office and back-office operations within the healthcare center.
• Greet and room patients while preparing examination rooms for appointments.
• Obtain, document, and monitor patient vital signs accurately.
• Perform blood draws and venipuncture as required.
• Administer vaccines according to established clinical protocols.
• Perform EKG testing and Point-of-Care (POC) testing as needed.
• Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and follow-up visits.
• Answer incoming telephone calls and provide appropriate assistance.
• Assist providers and clinical staff with examinations and other patient-care activities.
• Maintain accurate patient information and clinical documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Maintain examination rooms, medical supplies, and equipment in an organized and ready-to-use condition.
• Provide patient-centered support while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Work collaboratively with providers, Medical Assistants, behavioral health staff, and other healthcare personnel.
• Support health education and outreach initiatives focused on patient wellness and preventive care.
• Provide support for occupational health and workers’ compensation services as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience , in addition to an externship.
• Medical Assistant certification strongly preferred.
• Recent phlebotomy/venipuncture experience required.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems required.
• Front-office and back-office medical experience.
• Experience with patient scheduling and appointment coordination.
• Experience rooming patients and obtaining vital signs.
• Experience performing EKG testing.
• Experience with Point-of-Care (POC) testing.
• Current BLS or CPR certification preferred/required. Candidates without BLS/CPR may be considered for start pending organizational approval.
• Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with providers and healthcare staff.
• Ability to provide care to patients aged 2 years and older .
• DOT certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting occupational health services.
• Experience with workers’ compensation services.
• Women's Health experience may be applicable depending on coverage needs.
