Job Description:

The RN in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) focuses on caring for patients recovering from cardiac surgery and other cardiovascular conditions. The nurse must be proficient in dysrhythmia recognition and management, with specific experience in a Level I trauma setting required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and specialized care to postoperative cardiac surgery patients, including those with IABP, CRRT, and ECMO.
• Maintain and ensure a sterile field during procedures in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with team members to plan and implement patient care.
• Float to other ICUs and telemetry units as needed, managing a patient ratio of 4:1 on telemetry units.

Requirements:

• Current ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• Minimum of 2 years ICU experience, with CVICU experience preferred.
• Strong IV skills and the ability to perform a range of bedside procedures.
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam and SIMs Lab skills assessment, with proficiency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
