Residential Manager

What You'll Do As a Residential Manager, you'll oversee the daily operations of a residential home while providing direct support to the individuals we serve. You'll work closely with Direct Support Professionals, Leads, Residential Coordinators, and members of our Clinical and Executive Teams to ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Your responsibilities will include: Leading, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating residential staff Creating and maintaining staff schedules to ensure proper coverage Providing hands‑on support and direct care to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities Assisting with personal care, meal preparation, transportation, and community integration Supporting Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals and objectives Implementing behavior support plans and training staff on documentation requirements Monitoring the health, safety, and well‑being of individuals served Coordinating interdisciplinary team meetings and ISP development Ensuring compliance with all NHIA policies, DDD regulations, Medicaid Waiver standards, and applicable state and federal requirements Maintaining the overall cleanliness, organization, and operation of the residential home Assisting with job development and off‑site job training when applicable This is a full‑time, exempt position reporting directly to the Residential Coordinator. Flexibility is essential, as this role requires a schedule that extends beyond a traditional 9‑to‑5 workday. What We’re Looking For Education & Experience High School Diploma required Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred Equivalent combination of education and experience considered Minimum two years of experience supporting individuals with autism or developmental disabilities Minimum two years of supervisory or management experience Residential program experience preferred Experience with Therap preferred Skills & Qualifications Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with individuals served, families, staff, and community partners Excellent problem‑solving skills and sound judgment during emergencies and day‑to‑day operations Ability to build positive relationships and maintain a collaborative team environment Strong attention to detail and documentation requirements Requirements Valid New Jersey Driver’s License required (out‑of‑state licenses accepted for up to three months) Must meet NHIA driving eligibility requirements Must be at least 20 years old Reliable transportation to and from work Successful completion of all required DDD trainings New Hire Physical and negative Mantoux Test Ability to pass State and Federal Criminal Background Checks, CARI, Central Registry checks, and New Hire/Random Drug Screens The Ideal Candidate Leads with compassion, patience, and professionalism Remains calm and solution‑focused during challenging situations Follows through consistently and models accountability Supports and encourages team morale Adapts easily to changing schedules, locations, and responsibilities Uses common sense, sound judgment, and a positive attitude every day Why Join NHIA?
