Step into a high-impact Product Marketing Manager role where you’ll own and accelerate a global portfolio—shaping how products compete, win, and grow across life science and research markets within Ingersoll Rand. You will lead end-to-end portfolio strategy, from positioning and go-to-market execution to lifecycle management and EBITDA performance, partnering cross-functionally across global teams to ensure the right products, at the right price, with the right message reach customers, OEMs, and distribution partners. In this role, you will translate complex technical, market, and commercial insights into clear, actionable strategies for executive leadership and cross-functional teams—driving alignment, clarity, and confident decision-making across the business. You will build and maintain strong relationships across engineering, operations, sales, distribution partners, and key customers, ensuring deep market connectivity and execution success. A strong analytical mindset is essential, using market, customer, and performance data to guide portfolio decisions and shape profitable growth strategies. This is more than a marketing role—it is a launchpad for future leadership, designed to develop the next generation of General Managers through real ownership, visibility, and measurable business impact. Responsibilities Owns Product Line Performance (Revenue, Margin & EBITDA): Acts as the end-to-end owner of assigned product lines, driving cross-functional alignment to deliver revenue growth, margin expansion, and EBITDA performance through pricing, cost optimization, and commercial execution. Defines & Executes Product Portfolio Strategy: Develops and maintains the long‑term strategic roadmap for the portfolio, including product lifecycle direction, new product introduction strategy, enhancements to existing products, and end‑of‑life planning. Drives Voice of Customer (VOC) & Market Intelligence: Leads VOC initiatives and continuously gathers market intelligence through customers, end‑users, and distribution partners to shape product strategy, marketing direction, and commercial decisions. Owns Competitive & Market Positioning Insight: Monitors competitive landscape, pricing trends, and emerging technologies to ensure portfolio competitiveness and to inform strategic product, pricing, and positioning decisions. Translates Market Needs into Product Requirements: Defines market-based product specifications and requirements for new product development, ensuring alignment between customer needs, engineering feasibility, and business objectives. Leads New Product Development & Business Case Creation: Develops business cases for new products and strategic initiatives, including financial justification, market opportunity, and strategic alignment, and presents recommendations to leadership. Drives Cross‑Functional Execution of Product Strategy: Partners closely with engineering, operations, commercial, and leadership teams to execute product development, including make vs. buy decisions, manufacturing location strategy, and global product lifecycle management. Leads Go‑to‑Market & Commercial Enablement: Develops and executes go‑to‑market strategies and marketing programs, including product messaging, sales enablement tools, digital content, campaigns, and collaboration with demand generation and commercial teams. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or relevant related field. 5+ years of experience in Technical Product Management or Product Marketing for technical products, with ownership of product strategy, positioning, or portfolio performance. 4+ years of experience in customer‑facing commercial roles (Field Sales, Channel Sales, or Marketing), including direct engagement with customers and/or distribution partners. 4+ years of experience conducting Voice of Customer (VOC) and market insight activities, including customer interviews, win/loss analysis, or structured feedback programs. 4+ years of experience in go‑to‑market planning and execution, including product positioning, messaging, content development/management, and sales enablement development. 3+ years of experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), cross‑functional collaboration with engineering/operations, and development of business cases for new product initiatives; plus 3+ years of Excel experience (formulas, data analysis, and decision support). Core Competencies Strategic Portfolio Leadership: Set and own the direction of the global product portfolio—defining strategy, prioritizing investments, and driving disciplined execution to position the business for sustained growth and market leadership. Market Intelligence & Voice of Customer (VOC): Leverage deep competitive analysis and VOC insights to understand buying behavior, win/loss dynamics, and unmet needs—translating insights into clear, actionable product and market strategies. Go‑to‑Market & Commercial Enablement: Drive impactful go‑to‑market strategies and equip sales channels with compelling positioning, messaging, and content that accelerate adoption across customers, OEMs, and global distribution partners. Product Translation & Cross‑Functional Execution: Convert customer and market requirements into clear product definitions—partnering closely with engineering to deliver differentiated solutions aligned to real‑world application needs. Product Ownership: Roadmap, Pricing & Lifecycle: Own the full product lifecycle, including roadmap development, pricing strategy, and new product requirements—ensuring alignment to market demand, profitability targets, and long‑term portfolio value. Preferences MBA or relevant master's degree or international equivalent. Experience supporting a broad distribution channel (e.g., VWR, Fisher Scientific, etc.) is highly preferred. Experience in the field of vacuum pumps, peristaltic pumps, or other laboratory equipment. Travel And Work Arrangements Hybrid remote role, based in either Earth City, MO or Lincolnshire, IL, with periodic onsite presence required. Approximately 25% travel (U.S. and international), depending on business needs and candidate location. Pay Range The base compensation for this role is $115,000 - $140,000 excluding incentive opportunities. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location. Hired applicant will be eligible to receive (discretionary/nondiscretionary) annual bonuses and incentive compensation.
