divh2Administrative Charge Nurse-Perianesthesia Services/h2pUH: Outpatient Surgery Center-- Full-Time, Day Shift/ph3Job Summary:/h3pThe Administrative Charge Nurse-Perianesthesia Services assists the manager/director in providing clinical, administrative, financial and human resource management in a hospital-based outpatient surgery center. Demonstrates comprehensive specialized body of knowledge related to the specialty practice of perianesthesia services and electroconvulsive therapy in the outpatient environment. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to manage and supervise a team of licensed and unlicensed staff who provide direct and indirect age-specific patient care for a diverse pediatric through adult outpatient population. Facilitates uninterrupted patient flow through the various stages of perianesthesia. Demonstrates flexibility and advanced critical thinking skills to direct shift operations based on substantial knowledge and compliance with the American Society of Perianesthesia Nursing (ASPAN), state and federal regulations, LLUH policies, procedures, guidelines, Plans for Provision of Care and Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations. Promotes the empowerment of the nursing profession and excels in implementing new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Facilitates a positive environment and provides hands-on guidance to engage staff in adopting a care delivery model of accountability, empowerment and excellence in practice. Performs other duties as needed./ph3Education and Experience:/h3pBachelor of Science Degree in nursing required or, an Associates Degree in nursing with a Bachelors degree in another field and a Masters Degree in nursing required. Minimum of three years nursing experience in perianesthesia nursing required. Minimum of one year of prior management or supervisory experience preferred./ph3Knowledge and Skills:/h3pIn-depth knowledge of peri-anesthesia and intermediate care nursing required. Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and survey process required. Proficiency in leadership, supervision, management and communications skills required. Exhibits professional behavior at all times. Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills. Able to read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch./ph3Licensures and Certifications:/h3pActive California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
