General Summary: The Yard Associate will assist in the operations of the lumber yard and maintaining a positive and safe work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include the Following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Customer Service:
• Provide a positive representation of Porters.
• Proactively assist customers.
• Greet customers entering and throughout the yard.
• Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the yard.
• Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Ensure all radio calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
• Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of yard layout and location of products.
• Yard Operations:
• Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.
• Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the yard.
• Assist with maintaining back stock levels.
• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the yard.
• Communicate any improvement ideas to Store management.
• Participate in store meetings.
• Be professional in appearance and actions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Experience: Any previous experience with using lumber and building materials will aid in learning the position duties.

Physical Demands: Standing, walking, lifting heavy stock, extreme weather conditions, using power tools, etc.

Requirements: 18 years of age or more. Ability to endure strenuous work conditions including inclement weather. Ability to operate power tools and equipment with training. $11.15-$14.
