Job Summary The Registered Nurse I is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. This role involves utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures to monitor and evaluate patient functional status. This role involves utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures to monitor and evaluate patient functional status. Job Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive care for patients. Assess, organize, and complete patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Document all steps of the nursing process accurately. Employ proper medical terminology in all communications. Address problems and track progress toward established goals. Facilitate patient discharge through timely and appropriate referrals, utilizing patient education resources suitable for patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as appropriate. Support unit and hospital goals through participation in performance improvement and educational activities, evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Exercise independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. Engage directly with patients and/or customers. Communicate with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction. Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and staff. Required Skills & Experience Minimum of one year of experience in a high acuity/critical care environment (excluding ER experience). Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, the bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Strong attention to detail, particularly in the examination of clinical and numerical data. Schedule Notes Shift: Nights 7p-7a Critical Care Experience needed - must be able to hit the ground running. 30 Bed Unit ICU with an average of 12-14 patients.
