Duration: 12-month
Position Overview
A leading utility organization is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to help shape enterprise technology strategy and support major transformation initiatives. This individual will connect business objectives with technical execution, establish architectural roadmaps and standards, and provide guidance across cloud, integration, applications, and data.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, business-minded architect who can assess the current environment, identify gaps and opportunities, and develop practical target-state solutions. This is a highly visible role requiring strong communication and the ability to work with both executive stakeholders and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, roadmaps, principles, standards, and reference architectures.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to translate strategic goals into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead architectural planning and design for enterprise transformation and modernization initiatives.
- Assess the current technology environment and define current-state, transitional, and future-state architectures.
- Evaluate and recommend cloud platforms, enterprise applications, integration technologies, and supporting tools.
- Provide architectural guidance across applications, infrastructure, cloud, integration, security, and data.
- Ensure consistency and alignment across projects, platforms, and technology investments.
- Identify architectural risks, technical debt, redundancies, and opportunities for modernization.
- Review proposed solutions and ensure they align with enterprise standards and long-term strategy.
- Communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to executives, business leaders, engineers, and project teams.
- Serve as a strategic advisor and change agent within a fast-moving transformation environment.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect or in a comparable senior architecture role.
- Strong experience developing enterprise architecture strategies, standards, roadmaps, and governance.
- Ability to translate business strategy and operational requirements into technical architecture.
- Broad understanding of enterprise applications, infrastructure, cloud, data, integration, and security.
- Experience with one or more major cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong knowledge of APIs, middleware, integration patterns, and distributed enterprise systems.
- Experience supporting large-scale modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or a comparable methodology.
- Strong stakeholder management, presentation, facilitation, and executive communication skills.
- Ability to influence technical direction across teams without relying on direct authority.
- Must reside in the Tri-State area and be available to travel to Poughkeepsie, NY as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- TOGAF, Azure Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or related architecture certification.
- Experience with modern data platforms, data architecture, analytics, and governance.
- Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
- Background supporting utilities, energy, regulated industries, or other complex enterprise environments.
- Experience establishing architecture review boards, governance processes, or technology standards.
