The Bellefonte Area School District is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to join our student support team. The primary purpose of this position is to assess, identify, and provide intervention for students whose speech and/or language needs affect their ability to access and make progress in their educational program. This role serves students across multiple district buildings. Experience with assistive technology is preferred. Key Responsibilities The Speech & Language Pathologist Teacher will:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Education in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy and PDE regulations governing evaluation of professional personnel. Education Requirements Minimum: Master's Degree, Educational Specialist for School Speech and Language Pathologist. Experience Requirements Minimum: Experience teaching speech correction in a full-time position or as a long-term substitute. Certifications & Licenses Required:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, state and government regulations. Ability to effectively
present information using a variety of media and respond to questions from
students, administrators, staff, and general public. Possesses a thorough and
current knowledge of curriculum and effective teaching practices MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate various statistical procedures and interpret same. REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions,
and to develop and implement action plans. Ability to interpret an extensive
variety of curriculum documents and deal with several abstract and concrete
variables. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with parents, community, faculty,
staff, and administration.
Ability to work with a wide range of individuals and gain respect and support of
others.
Demonstrate a positive and caring nature towards children.
Strong organizational skills.
Personal integrity, sense of humor, good character, and emotional stability. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to

distance vision, and depth perception. Ability to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum.
Some bending and twisting of the body is required. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Bellefonte Area School District is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to join our student support team. The primary purpose of this position is to assess, identify, and provide intervention for students whose speech and/or language needs affect their ability to access and make progress in their educational program. This role serves students across multiple district buildings. Experience with assistive technology is preferred. Key Responsibilities The Speech & Language Pathologist Teacher will:
- Serve as a resource to school staff members in developing a balanced program for oral communication and speech.
- Provide a therapeutic program to meet the individual needs of children with speech and language impairments.
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
- Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, and language impairments.
- Provide screening to identify speech and language disabilities in children at regular intervals and at specified levels.
- Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
- Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs and correct existing speech or language impairments.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities.
- Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
- Provide in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech or language improvement.
- Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.
- Maintain lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.
- Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
- Attend appropriate professional development information/training workshops.
- Participate in in-service training programs.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and committee meetings as needed.
- When required, work with agencies to facilitate identification, evaluation, and IEP development prior to a child's entrance to public school.
- Cooperate with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies.
- Keep abreast of new developments in the field.
- To perform other professional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
