More than 2,500 team members at more than 70 Tidelands Health locations bring our healing mission to life each day. **A Brief Overview** Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic medical sonograms at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomy measurements and abnormal or suspicious anatomy; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation. **What you will do*** Review outpatient orders prior to day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.* Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication.* Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated and ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.* Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.* Perform a variety of diagnostic sonograms to include but not limited to Abdomen- Aorta, right upper quadrant, renal, renal doppler, OB GYN- first, second, and third trimester fetal examinations, pelvis- trans abdominal and transvaginal. Small parts- thyroid, extremity, scrotum, and breast. Pediatrics- pylorus, spine, hips. Procedures- Biopsies of thyroid, liver, lymph nodes, renal, aspirations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.* Perform standard diagnostic sonogram procedures as required by physician’s order.* Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.* Completion of exam in hospital information system.* Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment.* May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires. **Education Qualifications*** Certificate under the completion of a Medical Sonography program Required or* Associate's Degree under the completion of a Medical Sonography program Required **Experience Qualifications*** At least one (1) year Sonography experience Preferred **Skills and Abilities*** Understand and utilize anatomy, positioning, physics* Critical thinking* Time management* Effective communication **Licenses and Certifications*** Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Non-registered sonographers must successfully complete the ARDMS registry within 24 months of hire date) Required* Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required **Physical Demand** Medium Physical Demand The intent of this job description is to provide a representative and level of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a contract for employment nor a declaration of the total of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
