JOB DESCRIPTION:

The  IT Business Systems Analyst collaborates with management and cross-functional teams to identify business needs, prioritize initiatives, and drive process improvement opportunities within the Technology Department. This role is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and system requirements while translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business documentation.

The analyst supports the development of technology proposals, system specifications, testing documentation, and training materials. Assignments are typically complex and involve coordination across multiple organizational units. The role requires strong analytical skills, technical writing expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Working with broad project objectives and minimal supervision, the IT Business Systems Analyst exercises sound judgment, demonstrates initiative, and ensures timely delivery of high-quality documentation and analysis to support technology initiatives and decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and technical teams to gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements.
• Facilitate  JAD sessions, workshops, and stakeholder meetings to extract requirements and define project scope.
• Translate technical discussions into  functional workflows, business processes, and policy documentation .
• Identify opportunities for  process improvement, work simplification, and operational efficiency .

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Identify and collect data from  primary and secondary data sources .
• Analyze complex datasets to identify  trends, patterns, and performance metrics .
• Interpret analytical findings using statistical and analytical techniques.
• Develop  charts, reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate insights.

Process Documentation & Technical Writing

• Develop and maintain  technical documentation, procedures, policies, manuals, and workflow documentation .
• Produce documentation supporting  technology proposals, solicitations, and system implementation initiatives .
• Ensure documentation adheres to  established formatting, structure, and style guidelines .
• Maintain consistency and accuracy across all documentation and training materials.

Process Improvement & Operational Support

• Analyze operational processes to identify  work elements, performance standards, and improvement opportunities .
• Develop procedures, forms, and work measurement methods to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Assist with development of  departmental performance tracking methods and trend analysis .

Testing & System Support

• Support system implementation efforts by assisting with  test planning, test documentation, and validation activities .
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to ensure system functionality aligns with business requirements.
• Participate in  system analysis, impact assessments, and change documentation .

Collaboration & Communication

• Work collaboratively with  internal departments, leadership, SMEs, and external stakeholders .
• Communicate technical information clearly to  both technical and non-technical audiences .
• Deliver high-quality work products within  strict deadlines and fast-paced project environments .

Records Management & Compliance

• Maintain documentation and records in accordance with  organizational records management policies and procedures .
• Ensure compliance with internal governance standards and documentation guidelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in  Information Systems, Technical Communications, Business, or related field preferred.
