Calculates patients' co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance, providing personalized estimates of financial responsibility prior to service. Advises patients of expected costs, collects payments, or makes appropriate payment agreements. Attempts to collect patient cost-sharing amounts and outstanding balances before service when necessary. Informs patients of convenient payment options and follows deferral procedures as required. Connects patients with financial counseling or Medicaid eligibility vendors and assists with Customer Service-related inquiries. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mature judgement in dealing with patients, physicians, and insurance representatives. [Preferred] Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft programs including Excel and familiarity with database programs. [Preferred] Ability to operate general office machines such as computer, fax machine, printer, and scanner. [Preferred] Ability to effectively learn and perform multiple tasks and organize work in a systematic and efficient fashion. [Preferred] Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written.
