New Graduate Nurse RN Residency

Overview HCA Nurse Residency Program at Belton Regional Medical Center provides a year-long, paid program designed to help new graduate nurses transition from student to registered nurse, with hands-on experience, development of clinical and critical thinking skills, and mentorship from nurse educators and experienced nurses. Responsibilities Assess patient condition during admission and each shift; identify and report changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s); document care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Administer prescribed medications; monitor therapeutic response; notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication. Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and proactively addressing patient needs. Educate patients, families and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures; translate complex medical terminology as needed to ensure understanding.
