Environmental Technician

The Environmental Technician plays a crucial role in consolidating, treating, storing, packing, transporting, and disposing of hazardous waste while adhering to environmentally responsible and compliant practices, policies, and procedures. This position requires maintaining detailed and accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct material inspection, wastewater treatment, and material sorting.
• Perform facility services and complete required documentation accurately, timely, and legibly.
• Adhere to applicable regulations and customer policies, practices, and procedures.
• Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Skills

• Experience with HAZWOPER procedures.
• Comfortable with general labor and site cleanup.
• Ability to work outside in seasonal elements year-round.
• Experience in hazardous waste disposal.
• Comfortable wearing hazardous waste protection gear, including respirators, hard hats, and chemical-resistant gloves.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience working outdoors during all seasons.
• Prior experience operating forklifts.
• Visual acuity to read labels and documentation.
• Depth perception to ensure safety.
• Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes and alarms.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Willingness and ability to wear company-issued personal protection equipment.
• HAZWOPER Certification is a plus.

Work Environment

This position involves working outside year-round while wearing full PPE gear at all times, regardless of weather conditions. The facility employs 75 environmental technicians, allowing for shift coverage flexibility. Training involves a combination of online modules and job shadowing, lasting 2-3 weeks. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tacoma, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.25 - $23.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
