Job Description

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician training program preferred
Certification required - CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) via HSPA, or CBSPD equivalent
1+ years of sterile processing experience required
Familiarity with sterilization equipment, instrument tracking systems, and infection control standards

Duties:

Clean, decontaminate, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments and equipment per manufacturer and facility protocols
Operate sterilization equipment (autoclaves, low-temperature sterilizers) to ensure proper sterility of instruments and supplies
Assemble instrument trays and sets according to facility count sheets and surgeon preference cards
Perform quality control checks, including biological and chemical indicator monitoring
Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and instrument tracking in inventory systems
Distribute sterile instruments and supplies to OR and other departments as needed
Inspect instruments for damage or malfunction, coordinating repairs as needed
Adhere to strict infection control, safety, and regulatory standards (AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission)
Collaborate with OR staff to ensure timely turnaround of instruments for scheduled cases
