Outreach Manager - Raleigh / Durham

Description Must be located in Raleigh / Durham area Victory Junction is a year-round camp facility that provides fully accessible on-site and off-site programming for children with complex medical conditions at no cost to their families. Victory Junction's adaptive, intentional programming includes summer camp, family weekends, day programs, equine therapy, pediatric patient outreach, and partner programs. By removing all barriers, Victory Junction welcomes children with serious illnesses and chronic medical conditions to experience camp fun, all in a medically-safe environment. Victory Junction is a member of SeriousFun Children's Network and is accredited by the American Camp Association. This position would be based out of the Raleigh, NC area but does also involve travel to different areas of Virginia and weekly visits to campus in Randleman, NC. A VJ vehicle and funds will be provided for all travel needs. This position will report directly to the Victory Junction Outreach Director and be responsible for the oversight/supervision of Interns and part-time employees. This position will work primarily with the Victory Junction Outreach Program’s Virginia and Raleigh/Durham partnering sites. Program management and implementation are crucial aspects of this role. Responsibilities Work in the designated hospital/hospitals alongside the Child Life Services team in place. Creatively control program implementation per the child/families being served. Bring camp style activities to children and families. Create a happy camp-like environment inside the Hospital. Manage program supplies and report any needs. Manage Intern’s program supplies and allocate any needed materials. Effectively use all current supplies and maximize their potentials. Fulfill schedule set by the Outreach Director. Communicate effectively with the partnering site staff (Volunteer Services, Child Life teams & hospital staff). Professionally represent Victory Junction and the mission that is in place. Assist in designing and creating new program activities. Create and evaluate new and existing programming. Provide weekly numbers served updates to the Outreach Director. Provide weekly program reports and feedback. Report all pertinent information to the Outreach Director. Keep open lines of communication between all Outreach staff. Work with interns and Director to continuously enhance and grow the Outreach Program to new and existing sites. Adhere to and implement the policies and procedures of Victory Junction. Always follow Victory Junction Protocol. Perform any duties deemed necessary by the Outreach Director. Follow and adhere to Hospital protocol and procedures. Complete Volunteer training for each designated partnering hospital to receive clearance. Communicate with Child Life staff in all partnering hospitals to ensure quality of programming is up to standard. Foster an environment of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion while implementing intentional practices to ensure continued growth and success in these areas. Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Recreation Management, or another related field. Prior experience working with medically fragile children is highly preferred. Prior summer employment or volunteer experience with Victory Junction highly preferred. Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated strong child programming skills (games, arts, etc.). Demonstrated leadership and networking skills.
