Residence Life Specialist

Starting Salary Range is $45,219.20 - $47,525. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience. The Residence Life Specialist lives in the Lofts apartments and provides direct support to student-athletes residing in this space. This live-in position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and accountable residential environment. The Residence Life Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for residents, manages day-to-day housing operations, and supports student well-being through guidance, referrals, and timely response to concerns. Student Support and Accountability Enforce housing and student conduct policies and ensure consistent documentation of concerns. Address inappropriate behavior or policy violations professionally and consistently with departmental expectations. Document policy violations and behavioral concerns in accordance with established procedures. Serve as a positive role model and accessible resource for residential students. Provide guidance, support, and referrals related to academic, personal, and housing matters. Help resolve roommate or group conflicts in a fair, respectful, and timely manner. Maintain confidentiality of student records and other FERPA‑protected information. Housing Administration and Operations Manage all administrative aspects of campus housing, including contracts, room assignments and changes, move‑in and move‑out processes, and occupancy tracking. Maintain key control, including issuing, collecting, and documenting keys or access devices. Conduct regular room inspections, occupancy checks, and walk‑throughs to ensure safety, security, and compliance. Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns; submit facilities work orders and coordinate with appropriate departments to ensure timely resolution. Ensure residential facilities remain safe, clean, and well‑maintained. Policy, Safety, and Emergency Response Serve as the primary contact for residential students, including participation in an on-call rotation (weekdays, weekends, holidays). Respond to emergencies, including health, safety, and behavioral concerns, outside of regular business hours. Demonstrate knowledge of college emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations as needed. Foster a safe and respectful residential community; serve as a communication link between residents, Athletics, Housing, and other departments. Professional Engagement Maintain respectful, cooperative relationships with residents, Athletics staff, and other departments. Attend department meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities. Request and receive approval from supervisor in advance of any planned time away. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Must reside in assigned on-campus apartment housing. Expected to remain on campus during weekends, breaks, etc. Ability to be onsite at the Lofts within thirty (30) minutes to address urgent issues. Expected to work a flexible schedule (determined by supervisor) and remain available to meet residential and departmental needs. Associate's degree or sixty (60) college hours from an accredited college or/university. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and respond effectively under pressure. This is a security‑sensitive position. Must pass a criminal background check. Residence Life Specialist Schedule Details Given the nature of this position, the Residence Life Specialist will work a modified schedule designed to ensure appropriate coverage during evening and weekend hours at the Lofts. Once per month, the individual will have the option to transition to a “Rotation Schedule,” which provides a standard Monday‑Friday workweek and allows for at least one full weekend off each month. The employee will coordinate this rotation in advance with the Director of Student Conduct and Compliance to maintain consistent coverage and supervision of the Lofts. Additionally, if students remain in on-campus housing during campus closures or holiday breaks, the employee may work during those periods and receive holiday pay. The Residence Life Specialist is expected to communicate all planned or unexpected absences to both the supervisor and campus security.
