We are actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join the Queer Self Care Mental Therapy Center. This full-time remote position focuses primarily on delivering trauma-informed mental health care through telehealth services. We emphasize a client-centered approach, tailoring our services to meet the unique needs of individuals who have experienced complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and dissociative disorders. Work Environment\nThis role offers the flexibility of a remote work setting through telehealth modalities. You will have the freedom to conduct therapy sessions from the comfort of your home while maintaining a professional relationship with your patients. Although your primary hours will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., some flexibility in scheduling will be necessary to accommodate patients' needs, ensuring that we provide exceptional care when it is most needed.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients' trauma histories and inform appropriate treatment plans. \n
- Design and implement individualized therapy programs focusing on trauma healing and resilience building, adapting techniques to meet each patient's unique needs. \n
- Utilize evidence-based methodologies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). \n
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at helping patients process their trauma, develop coping mechanisms, and foster recovery. \n
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and a range of healthcare professionals to provide integrated, holistic care. \n
- Engage in crisis management and provide immediate assistance during trauma-related emergencies. \n
- Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, coping strategies, and available support resources for continued healing. \n
- Maintain accurate, confidential records according to legal and ethical standards of practice. \n
- Participate in regular case consultations and team meetings to enhance team collaboration and collective knowledge. \n
- Commit to ongoing professional development by staying updated on the latest research and techniques in trauma-informed care. \n
Your primary focus will be on individuals who have experienced trauma, with particular attention given to LGBTQ+ clients. Your expertise in understanding and navigating trauma-related disorders will be essential as you support patients in rebuilding their lives and strengthening their resilience. Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master’s or Doctorate degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, or psychology from an accredited institution. \n
- Current and valid licensure in Texas as an LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or psychologist. \n
- An understanding of trauma-related disorders and familiarity with trauma-informed therapeutic approaches. \n
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering a hospital environment of trust and respect. \n
- Ability to maintain composure and compassion in high-pressure situations. \n
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and various computer applications. \n
- A collaborative team player, comfortable working alongside multidisciplinary teams. \n
While we encourage applicants to have at least 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience, we welcome all qualified candidates ready to make an impactful contribution to trauma-focused therapy.
