Accountabilities:

The Finance Operations Associate and Finance Operations Lead roles are responsible for managing essential finance processes while supporting the development of scalable systems and operational improvements. These positions require strong attention to detail, ownership, and the ability to balance recurring responsibilities with strategic initiatives.

• Manage finance operations activities, including shared finance inbox support, invoice processing, expense reviews, and resolution of finance-related questions.
• Support accounts payable processes by collecting documentation, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring smooth vendor and contractor payments.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, balance sheet analysis, and financial reporting schedules.
• Maintain accurate documentation of finance processes, policies, and procedures to support operational continuity and compliance.
• Support contractor onboarding processes and identify opportunities to improve workflows and internal systems.
• Lead or contribute to finance operations projects such as finance tool implementation, system migrations, payroll improvements, and process automation.
• Assist with internal controls development, risk management initiatives, tax compliance, and external audit preparation.
• Support international entity setup, accounting coordination, and consolidation activities where applicable.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to improve finance operations and deliver high-quality stakeholder support.
• For lead-level responsibilities, take ownership of more complex finance workstreams, provide guidance to colleagues, and potentially support future team development and management.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines finance or accounting expertise with strong operational judgment, organization, and communication skills. Candidates at different experience levels are encouraged to apply, with responsibilities adjusted based on background and demonstrated capabilities.

• Finance Operations Associate candidates should typically have 3–4 years of experience in finance, accounting, operations, project management, startup environments, technology companies, or consulting roles.
• Finance Operations Lead candidates should typically have 5–7 years of experience in finance or accounting, including ownership of period-end close, audits, or other core finance processes.
• Strong understanding of financial operations, accounting principles, and process improvement methodologies.
• Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze financial information and communicate complex concepts clearly to different audiences.
• Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets and confidence working with financial data and reporting tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused and collaborative approach.
• Ability to identify inefficiencies and design practical solutions that improve systems and workflows.
• Experience with finance systems implementation, ERP tools, payroll platforms, expense management solutions, or accounting technology is a plus.
• Familiarity with nonprofit finance, philanthropic organizations, multi-entity accounting, international operations, or U.S. tax compliance is beneficial.
• Lead-level candidates should ideally have experience with risk-based finance approaches, external audits, Form 990 preparation or review, payroll administration, and coaching team members.
• CPA certification or equivalent credentials are a plus.

  • Finance Operations Lead: $155,825 total compensation, including a $135,500 base salary and a $20,325 unconditional 401(k) contribution for U.S.-based hires.
