Job Description The purpose of this position is to provide various testing and inspections on new and on-going projects to verify compliance with building codes and standards Responsibilities include: Performs routine field tests or inspections Complete structural concrete and reinforcing code and job specification compliance Structural masonry code and job specification compliance Pre-stressed and post tension concrete tendons and reinforcing code and job specification compliance Inspection of soil, concrete, asphalt and/or steel Spray applied fireproofing code and job specification compliance Daily communication with site contractors, other technicians and/or inspectors and project managers Complete accurate and detailed field testing/inspection reports and/or diagrams Qualifications Education: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred: 2 or 4 year degree in Civil Engineering/Civil Engineering Technology or relevant field of study Skills: Ability to calculate results from construction inspections Ability to read and interpret construction documents Ability to accurately complete field testing paperwork and detailed figures Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Professional Certifications: Preferred knowledge or certifications in radiation safety, NCDOT/SCDOT Roadway, Earthworks, and Concrete certification.
