Technology Specialist Tier 1 InternThe Technology Specialist Tier 1 Intern will be mentored and taught to support the goals of the district and technology department by maintaining systems, peripherals, applications, and network infrastructure. This position provides technology-related assistance to all staff as directed by the Technology Coordinator. This candidate will be mentored and taught how to install, maintain, operate, and repair technology equipment, including hardware and software at all district locations. This is a 12-month position and will work the entire year. Essential duties and responsibilities include making decisions and demonstrating actions that support the mission, vision, goals, and interests of the school district and of students. The candidate will communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors, staff, and guests. Confidentiality of student and staff information will be maintained. Hardware and software support of all staff and students in the school district will be provided as directed by the Technology Coordinator. Staff will be assisted with technology projects including classroom audio and video setups. Efficient and timely responses to technology helpdesk tickets will be ensured. The Technology Coordinator will be assisted in planning for the delivery of services to staff and coordinating the use of technology for teaching and learning. The use of instructional software in the school district will be supported. Computer equipment and software will be maintained, operated, and distributed as assigned. Equipment for special programs and meetings will be set up as required. Flexible hours may be assigned. The school district's technology resources will be managed through equipment scheduling and inventory maintenance. The school district's telecommunications systems, website, and Internet presence will be maintained. Software will be installed, monitored, and updated as needed. Maintenance tasks on high-use software will be performed. Network user rights and permissions will be adjusted when necessary. The school district's ticketing system will be operated. Work will be completed in an established time frame, and appropriate tasks will be sought when primary tasks are completed or the pace is slow. Consistent arrival at work on time and completion of all tasks as directed will be expected. The existence of any problems deemed to warrant prompt attention, advice, or intervention will be immediately informed to the administrator. Special assignments and other duties will be performed as determined by the administrator.Qualifications include a completed high school diploma. Thirty plus semester hours of college level credit are preferred but not required. One to three plus years of technology education and/or training support experience, focus in an educational setting is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Strong organizational skills for troubleshooting and research are required. Preferred knowledge includes experience with Google Workspace/Google Workspace for Education, Apple School Manager (ASM) / Apple Business Manager (ABM), Mosyle, JAMF, or other MDM, macOS, iPadOS, Chrome OS, and Windows operating systems, classroom audio/video, document cameras, and projectors, GoGuardian or similar content filtering software, PowerSchool or similar SIS, Infinite Visions or similar educational ERP, National and State of IL educational assessment applications, inventory and asset tracking systems, Mac, Chromebook, and iPad hardware repairs, printer and copier configuration and troubleshooting, Active Directory and Group Policy management.Skills required include the ability to work well with fellow employees and provide support/training to non-technical staff, ability to travel amongst district schools located in Glen Ellyn and Wheaton, ability to manage tasks to required deadlines, ability to self-direct and make decisions in absence of supervisor, ability to maintain a positive and flexible attitude toward daily responsibilities, ability to create and maintain technical documentation, ability to support Board of Education Meetings that occur on evening and/or weekends, ability to monitor machines via RMM and take appropriate action(s) on as necessary, and participation in the management of organizational licensing and software renewals.Physical demands include sitting, standing, talking, and hearing while performing the duties of this job.Salary and benefits: All non-certified staff that fall under the Support Professional Association "SPA" are placed on a salary schedule according to position and experience as part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The hourly range for this position is: $23.00- $26.75. Non-Certified staff experience 13 sick days and 4 personal days of paid time off.
