Senior Accountant - 12-18 Month Contract (Aurora)

About the Opportunity Under the direction of the Manager, Finance the Financial Analyst coordinates the preparation of the annual agency budget Assists Managers in budget submissions to regional governments Prepares year‑to‑date financial reports Prepares journal entries and reconciliations Prepares Annual Grants utilization report for regional government Assists with preparation of monthly financial statements and reviews same Performs variance analysis of monthly general ledger and financial statements Revenue recognition, funds analysis and complete government documents Maintains year‑end audit schedules Reconciles agency’s investments monthly and annual reconciliation Prepares annual returns (e.g., Charity Information Return) Completes GST returns semi‑annually Completes Statistics Canada reporting Prepares and posts payroll journal entries Other assignments as directed by the Manager, Finance About You Completion of Post‑secondary education Two to five years financial accounting, auditing and/or budgeting experience Knowledge of effective financial analysis, research, budget development and control techniques and processes Strong analytical, research, problem‑solving and resolution abilities Ability to communicate analysis results and interact effectively with leaders at all levels A team player who thinks strategically and effectively when faced with difficult challenges Highly organized and efficient, able to prioritize and work effectively in a deadline‑oriented environment Ability to work with minimal direction, ensuring alignment with program and agency goals Strong project management skills Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, macros, lookup functions), SAGE, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Dayforce Payroll and HR module experience is an asset Pay Range $80,000 – $90,000 per year Eligible for discretionary bonuses, medical, dental, vision benefits and a 401(k) retirement plan.
