Position Summary: The OR Clinical Assistant of Surgical Services is a Registered Nurse (RN) who impacts patient care through the coordination of day to day operations in the Surgical Services units; Ambulatory Care, Post Anesthesia Care and the Operating Rooms including staff scheduling and payroll approvals.

The OR Clinical Assistant is a representative of the department director, across the care continuum with regard to patient care management, resource management and clinical outcomes.

Oversees direct care, mentors and guides staff for achievement of excellence.

Responsible for all billing for OR and endoscopy procedures.

Collaborates with the department Director for the hands on implementation of processes as part of the cycle.

Ensures staff competency, provides real time performance feedback to mentor staff growth.

Provides for real time education of staff and promotes teamwork concepts among staff.

Supports and models the Healthy Work Environment (HWE) standards which represent evidence-based and relationship-centered principles of professional performance.

Education and Training Required: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.

Current licensure as an RN in the state of Wisconsin.

BLS required.

Advanced life support certification such as ACLS and PALS required.

Professional certification desirable.

(CNOR preferred) Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in a hospital setting.

Minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of specific equipment functions: Surgery, Endoscopy.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written.

Ability to deal with multiple tasks in a calm manner.

Ability to use computers, fax machines, and possess proper telephone skills.

Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and current EMR software (EPIC).

Works effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion and diplomacy.

Demonstrates leadership and teaching ability.

Ability to exercise independent judgment.

Maintains surgical procedure log.

Communicates frequently with representatives in regard to equipment, implants, purchase orders, etc.

Reviews and completes corrections for timesheets.
