As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our ophthalmology clinics. Your responsibilities will include:

• Patient Work-Up: Conduct basic patient assessments, including visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and dilation.
• Testing and Evaluation: Perform a range of tests such as confrontation visual fields, cover testing, and versions, and assist in manifest refractions.
• Patient Interaction: Greet patients warmly, explain testing procedures, answer questions, and provide necessary education.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with our clinical support team and providers to ensure a smooth and efficient patient flow.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by recognizing and addressing common safety hazards.
• Documentation: Utilize our EMR system to accurately record patient data and ensure it's ready for provider review.

Education: High school diploma is required; some college or a degree is preferred. Certification as a COA or COT is a plus.


Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare environment.

• Knowledge of Diagnostic Codes : Familiar with diagnostic codes, aiding in accurate patient record management.

• Medical and Optical Knowledge : Possesses a basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and optical principles, including refraction and contact lenses, and is familiar with the use of optical equipment.
