Infinity Technical Services Division, Inc., a NETA Accredited Company, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Field Service Technician based from our Spartanburg, South Carolina facility.

Position Summary

This is a Senior, hands-on technical position supporting Infinity TSD’s complete range of electrical testing, startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, modernization, and equipment-condition services.

The successful candidate must be capable of independently completing field assignments and resolving technical problems without continuous supervision. On larger group projects, this individual may also serve as the site or project lead technician while remaining actively involved in performing the technical work.

Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant hands-on experience. Previous experience with NETA electrical testing or OEM field services is preferred.

The position requires approximately 50% travel, primarily throughout South Carolina, Western North Carolina, and Georgia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently perform electrical testing, startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modernization services.

• Perform NETA acceptance testing and maintenance testing based on experience and qualifications.

• Support equipment startup, commissioning, inspection, functional verification, and energization activities.

• Inspect, test, maintain, and troubleshoot low- and medium-voltage electrical power-distribution equipment.

• Work with switchgear, UL 891 switchboards, MCCs, transformers, panelboards, circuit breakers, protective relays, cables, VFDs, power meters, and associated control systems.

• Perform circuit-breaker inspection, maintenance, testing, adjustment, repair, and functional verification.

• Operate primary current injection, secondary injection, insulation-resistance, contact-resistance, transformer, cable, relay, and other electrical test equipment.

• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, control-power, protection, communication, and equipment-operation problems.

• Evaluate test results and identify deficiencies, abnormal conditions, or equipment requiring further investigation.

• Develop practical recommendations for additional testing, corrective work, repairs, maintenance, or equipment upgrades.

• · Configure and verify electronic trip units, protective relays, power meters, VFDs, and other programmable electrical devices.

• · Perform or support equipment repairs, retrofits, upgrades, modernization, and replacement projects.

• · Support OEM startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, warranty investigation, and corrective field services.

• · Perform or support medium-voltage cable testing, terminations, and splicing based on experience and qualifications.

• Perform infrared, partial-discharge, power-quality, and equipment-condition assessments based on training and project requirements.

• Accurately document equipment condition, test results, deficiencies, settings, repairs, and completed work.

• Prepare complete, accurate, and professional field-service and test reports.

• Communicate technical conditions and project status clearly to customers, contractors, project managers, engineers, and other technicians.

• Follow Infinity TSD safety procedures, customer requirements, manufacturer instructions, and applicable NETA standards.

Site & Project Lead Responsibilities

When assigned to a larger group project, the Senior Electrical Field Service Technician may serve as the site or project lead technician. In this capacity, the technician will:

• Review the project scope, drawings, specifications, equipment information, schedule, and safety requirements.

• Coordinate daily field activities and help assign work based on technician capabilities.

• Lead job briefings and communicate the planned work, hazards, responsibilities, and project priorities.

• Remain actively involved in testing, maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, or repair activities.

• Provide technical guidance and hands-on assistance to other technicians.

• Monitor work progress and communicate scope, schedule, equipment, or safety concerns promptly.

• Coordinate field activities with the customer, contractor, project manager, engineer, or OEM representative.

• Verify that test data, equipment identification, and field documentation are complete and accurate.

• Track incomplete items, deficiencies, and additional work requiring follow-up.

• Represent Infinity TSD professionally while maintaining our standards for safety, technical quality, responsiveness, and customer care.

Serving as the site or project lead is an assignment-based responsibility and does not change the position’s primary function as a hands-on senior field technician.

Equipment and Systems

This position may involve electrical power-distribution systems rated from 208 V through 38 KV, including:

• Low- and medium-voltage switchgear

• UL 891 switchboards

• Motor control centers

• Transformers

• Panelboards

• Low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers

• Protective relays and control systems

• Low- and medium-voltage cables

• Variable-frequency drives

• Power meters and power-quality systems

• Automatic transfer switches

• Continuous thermal-monitoring and equipment-condition systems

Candidates are not expected to be experts in every service or equipment category. However, they must have a strong foundation in electrical power-distribution systems and the ability to independently perform work within their qualifications while continuing to expand their capabilities

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of direct, hands-on experience with electrical power-distribution equipment.

• Demonstrated experience in electrical testing, startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, or related field services.

• Working knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems.

• Ability to plan and independently complete assigned field-service work.

• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment problems without continuous technical supervision.

• Ability to safely and correctly operate electrical test equipment and evaluate the resulting data.

• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and test specifications.

• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

• Ability to provide technical direction and serve as a site or project lead technician when assigned.

• Strong organizational, documentation, communication, and customer-service skills.

• Good computer skills and the ability to use electronic testing, configuration, and reporting applications.

• Sound safety judgment and a commitment to established electrical safe-work practices.

• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50%.

• Availability to work extended hours, nights, or weekends when required by outage, startup, or emergency-service schedules.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for a NETA Accredited Company.

• NETA certification.

• Experience performing NETA acceptance testing or maintenance testing.

• Experience supporting an electrical equipment manufacturer or OEM field-service organization.

• Familiarity with current NETA testing standards and NFPA 70E requirements.

• Experience with PowerDB or similar electronic test-reporting software.

• Experience with primary current injection, secondary injection, protective-relay testing, transformer testing, cable testing, power-quality analysis, or partial-discharge testing.

• Medium-voltage cable termination or splicing experience.

• Experience configuring circuit breakers, electronic trip units, protective relays, power meters, or VFDs.

• Relevant manufacturer training or equipment certifications.

Travel and Territory

This position will be based from Infinity TSD’s Spartanburg, South Carolina facility.

Travel is expected to average approximately 50%, primarily throughout:

• South Carolina

• Western North Carolina

• Georgia

Occasional travel outside the region may be required to support major customer outages, commissioning projects, emergency work, or other Infinity TSD operations. Assignments may involve overnight stays and extended schedules based on customer and project requirements.
