Clinical Laboratory Scientist I - 30541We are currently looking for a Part Time 29 Clinical Laboratory Scientist I to join our Satellite Clinic Laboratory Unit 1 team located at the Tishomingo Health Clinic.Summary: Provides clinical laboratory services consisting of moderate to high complexity testing without direct supervision.Responsibilities:Assess test results and reliability of testing procedures and identify instrument malfunctions, reagent failures, specimen interference, etc., that may affect test resultsFollows laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, tests analyses and reports and maintains records of test resultsProvides patients with instructions regarding specimen collection, diet instructions, etc.Performs laboratory testing for specimen processing and test performancePerforms and documents instrument and procedure calibrations, maintenance and troubleshootingAssesses specimens for acceptability for testing and accession into laboratory workflowAssists internal customers in ensuring appropriate tests are ordered with proper specimen requirementsAssigns results and conducts further examinations or take additional or alternate actions as appropriatePerforms proficiency testing according to Laboratory policyFollows laboratory quality control and quality assurance protocols. Documents all quality control activitiesNotifies the Senior Technologist and/or instrument service personnel for any unscheduled maintenance needsTakes and documents corrective action or immediately notify the Senior/Clinic Technologist or Laboratory ManagerNotifies providers of critical values and STAT results as specified in the Laboratory Policy ManualPerforms inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy when neededAssists in maintaining a friendly, clean, safe and neat work environmentMaintains, restocks, and orders inventory and supplies under the direction of the Laboratory Manager or Senior/Clinic TechnologistAssists the Senior Technologist in each section as directedProvides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiencyCompletes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunitiesWorks in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all typesMaintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environmentMaintains and promotes professionalismPunctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metricsAdheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standardsMaintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned areaPerforms all other duties as assignedCompetencies:Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment or situationAble to follow instructions, both written and oralAble to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirementsAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all mattersMust be detail-orientedHonesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountabilityPrioritizes, meets deadlines and works independently in a high-pressure environment and uses appropriate judgement in upward communication regarding assignmentsAble to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelinesKnowledge to perform/monitor the full range of laboratory testingKnowledge of medical technology principles, techniques, and instrumentsKnowledge and skill sufficient to conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and productsKnowledge in external proficiency testing programs; and evaluate result of quality control procedures and implement corrective actions when indicatedOrganizational and time-management abilitiesAble to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and managementCommunicates clinical information to patient in emergent or urgent settingsWrites effective communications with team, departments, guests and managementSkills:Basic Computer skillsSkilled in operating a computer and/or other equipment related to specific role (i.e. automated currency counters, calculator, projector, binding machine, other related office equipment)Experience:1 year directly related experienceEducation:Associate's degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, or medical laboratory technician from an accredited institution. Qualifying education must be within previous five years.Credentials:Pass general background checkWorking Conditions:Works in a hospital or clinic environmentSometimes bend, kneel, stoop, push, reachHand-eye coordination, reach and graspSometimes lift and or carry up to 50 lbsSitting up to 25% of shiftStanding up to 100% of shiftWalking up to 75% of shiftPass pre-employment drug testTraining:It is the responsibility of each employee to attend required training for their position or profession as determined by their line of support (LOS) or the leadership of the Chickasaw Nation.
