Registered Nurse (RN) – Stroke Program Coordinator The Registered Nurse (RN) applies the nursing process to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. The RN evaluates the quality of care provided by other direct caregivers and coordinates patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. The role upholds patient rights, maintains confidentiality, and performs all duties in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards. The Stroke Program Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for the hospital’s stroke program, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through quality improvement, regulatory compliance, interdisciplinary collaboration, staff education, and adherence to evidence-based stroke care standards. The coordinator serves as the primary resource for stroke program operations and certification activities while driving initiatives that improve clinical performance and patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Apply the nursing process to deliver safe, effective, patient-centered care. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by direct caregivers. Coordinate patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. Uphold patient rights, confidentiality, and Mercy’s mission and values. Lead the stroke program, overseeing operations and certification activities. Drive quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance. Promote evidence-based stroke care standards and staff education. Act as primary resource for stroke program operations and staff support. Qualifications Education: Graduate of a school of nursing (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN). Licensure: Current RN license in the hiring state or compact licensure that meets all state board of nursing requirements. Experience: Minimum 2 years acute care experience in neurology. Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Physical requirements: Push, pull, or lift 50 pounds regularly; prolonged standing and walking each shift; ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties. Skills: Program management (data, operations, presentations, budgeting); public relations and professional relationship development with EMS, media, referral hospitals; proficiency with State Data Dictionary and Registry Software; basic Microsoft Office skills.
