Licensed Vocational Nurse LVN

Pay Rate: $39.00 per hour Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and versatile Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide high-quality nursing care in a correctional healthcare environment. This position offers the opportunity to work across multiple clinical areas, including clinic services, inpatient and outpatient care, medication administration, wound care, emergency response, and critical care support. The LVN will work closely with physicians, nursing professionals, and correctional staff to promote patient safety, provide effective treatment, and maintain professional standards of healthcare delivery. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program Current Texas LVN license or permit in good standing At least 1 year of experience in: Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Current IV Therapy certification or willingness to obtain certification Ability to adapt to multiple clinical settings and patient care responsibilities Key Responsibilities Deliver nursing treatments, procedures, diagnostic services, and preventive healthcare appropriate to patient needs Accurately interpret and implement physician orders Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses and adverse reactions Assist physicians with sick-call evaluations and patient assessments Observe, assess, and document patient symptoms and changes in condition Provide wound care and apply surgical dressings and bandages Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid when necessary Obtain and accurately document vital signs and other relevant patient information Assist with discharge planning and educate patients regarding medications, follow-up care, and healthcare needs Monitor and report medication reactions, treatment responses, and changes in patients#39; physical or emotional conditions Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records Monitor medical supplies and assist with inventory and ordering as needed Communicate and collaborate with healthcare providers, nursing staff, and correctional personnel Assist with providing healthcare-related guidance to correctional staff when appropriate Follow all applicable clinical, safety, security, and correctional healthcare policies and procedures Clinical Responsibilities The LVN should be comfortable working across a variety of clinical areas, including: Clinic Services Inpatient Care Outpatient Care Medication Administration and Med Pass Wound Care Cell-Side Care Emergency/ER Care Critical Care Support Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a clinically capable and adaptable LVN with strong assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
