It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!Description of WorkThe EEO Investigator supports the Department of Adult Correction by conducting formal EEO investigations, providing policy-based consultation to employees and managers, and contributing to statewide equal employment opportunity programs. The role operates within the Central Human Resources Office and applies federal and state EEO laws, departmental policies, and evidence‑based investigative practices to promote fair employment actions, resolve concerns, and advance the agency’s EEO goals.Key Duties Include:Conduct EEO investigations involving alleged discrimination, harassment, or retaliation, including documentation review, witness interviews, and preparation of written findings.Develop investigation plans, logistics schedules, and evidence‑gathering approaches for statewide and facility‑based inquiries.Perform research using sources such as LEXIS NEXIS and EEOC guidance to support determinations and prepare final letters of finding.Consult with employees, supervisors, and management on EEO‑related concerns and provide policy interpretation to support fair and compliant decision‑making.Coordinate with the Office of General Counsel and NC Department of Justice and serve as a witness in contested case hearings or related legal proceedings.Collect and analyze data supporting the agency’s annual EEO plan, including utilization reviews, workforce objectives, and action program recommendations.Deliver EEO‑related education, training, and outreach and ensure departmental EEO materials, statements, and resources remain current and accessible.Support additional EEO program needs and assignments as directed by the EEO Manager.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Grade Range: $63,927 - $111,871The Posting Will Close At 11:59 P.M.
